The report, which was published through TechCrunch reported that "The company (Spotify) confirmed the test to TechCrunch, but didn't share further details about the technology and the process it uses neither did it set a timeframe for the launch."

The article appears to have a text box enabling users to enter information, also called a "prompt," to enable the generative AI to make music suggestions and possibly playlists.

While it's not yet officially announced, the test could tell of a possible release on the streaming giant's platform.

Spotify has had a busy year with listening analytics for users being an important focus. The company's Annual "Spotify Wrapped" was released recently for subscribers to check their most popular songs and tracks from the platform's millions of tracks.

Spotify invests heavily in AI

Earlier this year Spotify launched its Personal DJ feature earlier this year. The feature allowed users to connect to an online DJ, which the company heralded as an "Dynamic AI voice Platform."

It's unclear whether Spotify will tie the Personal DJ and the tested feature that was discovered on TikTok although AI is an enormous source of interest for the company. As they stated in their February release, "Personalization is at the foundation of our activities at Spotify."

In 2023, Spotify announces job cuts for Spotify

Daniel Ek, CEO of Spotify announced this month that the streaming platform was going through the process of making redundancies.

The Co-Founder and top position holder said this raft of job cuts "is not the equivalent of a retreat; it's a strategic change."

It remains to be determined whether this investment into automation is connected to the elimination of jobs, but AI is a big part of Spotify's plans for the future.
